Why work with me?

As a student and Ambassador of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition – the world’s largest nutrition school – I have had the opportunity to study over 100 dietary theories, and have had the privilege to learn practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods from some of the world’s top health and wellness experts including: Dr. Andrew Weil, best-selling author, Director of the Arizona Centre for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Mark Hyman, Physician, Chairman of the Institute for Functional Medicine, author of The Blood Sugar Solution; Dr. Sara Gottfried, Harvard trained medical doctor and author of best-selling The Hormone Cure; Dr. Frank Lipman, pioneer and internationally recognized expert in the fields of Integrative and Functional Medicine, Founder and Director of Eleven-Eleven Wellness Centre in New York City; and, Donna Gates, best-selling author and founder of Body Ecology and the Body Ecology Diet, to name a few.

As a full-time small business owner/entrepreneur (founder of LPK’s Culinary Groove and delights™ in Toronto) and wife for the last 20 years, and parent for the last 10 years, I understand first-hand what it’s like to juggle time, finances, relationships, and what feels like a million different things – at home and at work simultaneously – and not necessarily be successful in any of those areas!

I have also felt uncomfortable in my own skin for most of my adult life. I have known how to eat well, but have had trouble making time to do so. I have worked out regularly, but often ineffectively and/or to the point of exhaustion, further taxing my already depleted immune system, even causing me to get sick. And, even after quitting sugar for up to eight months, have eventually given in to continued, intense sugar cravings, perpetuating the cycle of ill health and lack of overall wellbeing.

After spending too many years trying to be successful at work, and being only moderately successful in my marriage and as a parent, I finally realized that in order to be successful in even one of those areas, all of those areas needed my attention!

In order to give attention to all of those areas, the very first place that needed my attention was me!

In the past two years, I have:

  • closed a business I initially loved and worked 15 years to build because it ended up being financially, emotionally and spiritually draining, and almost lead to my family being torn apart…
  • spent a lot of time discovering what I didn’t want my life to be like…
  • decided I wanted to feel and look better so I could bring more vitality to my life at work and at home…
  • learned how important regular sleep is, especially as we get older…
  • decided I wanted to spend more quality time with my family and friends…
  • realized I wanted to work way less, and spend way more time having fun…

As a direct result of this shift in my attention, my life has improved in the following ways:

  • I went back to school and am so excited to inspire and engage those around me…
  • I have learned doing what you love won’t necessarily make you rich, but putting love into what you do will bring abundance in so many ways…
  • I have spent the last year working with an amazing trainer to get physically fit, stronger and more mobile, and have learned to be much more mindful of how physical activity affects my body, spirit and ability to work and play…
  • After much research and experimentation I have finally found a way of eating that works for me now, and is helping me feel the best I have in my entire adult life…
  • Restful, more consistent sleep is now a big priority for me …
  • I have reconnected with my husband and daughter, and other important people in my life…
  • For the first time in over a decade, we took a family vacation this summer, and I didn’t work for 2 whole weeks…!
